Michael Lasris is a resident
company member/choreographer at the Carousel Dinner Theatre
right here in Fort Collins. He recently graduated with a
BFA in Musical Theatre from Catawba College in Salisbury, NC.
Michael has been performing in musicals since the age of twenty
months old! He started formal dance training in tap, jazz,
ballet, and lyrical at the age of seven at Wilkins School of
Dance in Newport News, VA. While at Wilkins, Michael became a
Dance Caravan Kid and toured all summer alongside such names as
Jerry Rose, Barry Youngblood, Laurie Rousseau, and Andrea
Hammond. He was offered a full scholarship to return the
following summer.
Michael has also performed at
Paramount’s Kings Dominion for two summers as the lead male
dancer, Papermill Theatre (42nd Street, Beauty and
the Beast), Shenandoah Summer Music Theatre (Thoroughly
Modern Millie, Little Me, Evita, Bye Bye Birdie), Peach
State Summer Theatre (Singin’ in the Rain, Aladdin, Ragtime),
and Charleston Stage Company (West Side Story, A Christmas
Carol, The Producers). While performing, he has also served
as Dance Captain and Choreographer for several productions.
While at Catawba College,
Michael taught the advanced Tap classes for the college and
served as a dancer and choreographer for the Dance Ensemble.
However, since graduation, Michael has spent his time focusing
on Musical Theatre. He is thrilled to be teaching at SWDC and is
excited to be back to honing his true passion: dance!
